This module was quite a bit to do with concept mapping. I do not have really any experience with this, so I felt as though I might be a bit behind, or not on the right track. A helpful website that I used for this process was http://cft.vanderbilt.edu/guides-sub-pages/understanding-by-design/ When it comes to concept mapping, I learned that it is sometimes easier if you work backwards. Starting with the desired results, and really focusing on what are the learning goals for this assignment or course. For my specific lesson I wanted the students to be able to identify the primary and secondary colors, as well as to be able to successfully create the secondary colors using primary colors. The next step in a concept map is to Determine the evidence. In my specific lesson the evidence is in the paint. Either the students mixed blue and yellow to create green or they didn’t! The third step is to plan the learning experience. We weren’t assigned to physically write out the lesson, but my lesson is based around the book “Mouse Paint.” It is a great tool, which helps the students critically think about color theory. I also incorporate a smart board activity as well as some youtube videos from sesame street. Here are some links if you want to take a look

(THIS ONE IS MY FAVORITE)
Another thing discusses this week was Curtis Bonk and his ideas on Assessment Online
Here is the video, and below are some of my thoughts related to the video, and an article written by Curtis Bonk
After reading the Prequel article about “Sharing.. The Journey” by Curtis Bonk, I was the most interested in the list of 10 ways to communicate and share knowledge. I was obviously drawn to the idea of blogging. This idea has become so relevant to my life, and even helped me to land my first teaching job. I was asked questions such as “how do you use technology in the classroom,” and “how do you communicate with parents?” The first thing that came to my mind was to show some pictures from my portfolio of my blog. I use this tool to post often about the assignments and objectives of my class. It is a great resource for parents to check out to see what their children are doing within my class, but is also helpful for students who were absent. I have found that blogging has helped me in many different ways as an educator.
I was also interested in the idea of a guest educator. Since I am currently still living in the town that I got my undergraduate degree from (Menomonie) I find that so many of my classmates are too. Being an art education major, I have built many connections with students in different studio arts: Metal, Ceramic, drawing, 3-D Design. I feel that it would be very beneficial to my class to bring in some of my former classmates as a way to inspire them, and give them ideas about their futures with the art world. And for an online art education setting, I would be able to do as Bonk said and “use a podcast or a online lecture.”
